I’m William Melton, an Anchorage-based filmmaker, and in this interview I break down what it took to film a remote marine debris cleanup on Montague Island in Prince William Sound, Alaska. I served as Director of Photography on this project, working alongside the incredible teams at Rivers Are Life and Gulf of Alaska Keeper as part of Impact Project 65.
We filmed in one of the most remote environments in Alaska—accessed by boat, inflatable skiff, and helicopter—capturing both the scale of the marine debris problem and the reality of what it takes to remove it.
I’m the owner of Will Melton Media Productions LLC, specializing in documentary filmmaking, environmental storytelling, and remote-location production throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. I work with nonprofits, agencies, and mission-driven organizations to tell grounded, authentic stories in challenging environments.
